CDM Success Stories

 

David Ferguson grew up dancing at Angie’s Dance Academy in Clyde, NC. He was named Master Dance or North Carolina in 2003, Mister Dance of North Carolina in 2008 and 1st runner up to Mister Dance of America in 2009. After high school, David enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, earning a bachelor of fine arts in contemporary dance, before setting off to study dance overseas for a short time in 2015. SInce then, his career has taken him to Montreal, Canada, and most recently New York City. He has danced for several Broadway shows and will be joining the First National Tour of “Fiddler On The Roof.”

Mariah Reives, former student at Dancer’s Workshop and Centre of Performing Arts, is currently studying dance at Marymount Manhattan College. She will be making her New York City stage debut in New York City Centers Encores! of The New Yorkers. This show was originally on Broadway in the 30’s and they are bringing it back to the New York stage. The performances will run from March 22nd through March 26th. She has also been performing at several industrial shows in NY and auditioning for many well known choreographers.

Mary Katherine Conaway, former student of Joyce Triche, is a rising Senior at Salem College. She has a double major of Dance Studies and Business Administration, and is a member of the Salem College Dance Company. This summer she was employed as a member of the dance team for Carolina Cobras Arena Football Team that plays at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Mary Upchurch, also former student of Joyce Triche, has been performing for the past two years with the Theatre Alliance in Winston Salem. She has been employed as their costume designer since May. This summer she performed in Will Roger’s Follies, along with doing the costuming for the show. Mary will be starting her Freshman year at Savannah College of Art and Design in September where she will be studying costume design and musical theatre.
