Solo Title Scholarship Pageant
Carolina Dance Masters is proud of the opportunities we present for our CDM Members and their students to showcase their talents and personalities. Our Solo Title Scholarship Pageant is no exception. We hold a preliminary competition in September in which members’ students may enter one of four age divisions—Petite, Junior Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss Dance. We also have the same four age divisions for our young men—Master, Junior Mister, Teen Mister, and Mister Dance. The top 10 in each age division will then move on to the Finals held at our annual Convention in November.
In November, finalists participate in rigorous competition where they take part in classes, interviews, and solo performances. At the end of the weekend, winners are chosen based on their cumulative scores, and the top competitors from each category represent our chapter in the Nationals competition held by Dance Masters of America.
Performing Arts Competition
Every year, Carolina Dance Masters hosts the Performing Arts Competition as a way to bring our members together and to give students an opportunity to showcase their hard work. This is our organization’s largest annual fundraising event!
Students compete in various areas, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and more. Performances are judged based on technique, costume, presentation, and other categories by highly qualified and experienced dance professionals. As with most competitions, judges’ reviews are given back to the students so they can use this experience as an educational opportunity.
Participation in PAC is for members only, but if you would like to become a member, please visit our Members page.

Our Fall Convention is held every November in Greensboro, NC. It serves as a place for our members and their students to expand their dance education, knowledge, and community.
We recruit professional dance educators and dancers from across the nation to teach classes in various subjects, including tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet, teacher focused classes, and more. This four-day-weekend event is jam-packed with classes, performances, and competitions and brings together more than 700 dancers from every corner of North Carolina.
Aside from our classes, the main attraction at Fall Convention is the Finals of our Solo Title Scholarship Pageant, which showcases more than forty of the most talented dancers in North Carolina. The pageant starts with competitive classes and interviews (held privately) and finishes with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our banquet is held on Saturday evening prior to the Miss Dance and Mister Dance competition.
Fall Convention weekend is always a blast for everyone who attends. We look forward to this year’s event and hope to see you there!
Winter Convention is our mid-year retreat for members and non-members. It is a three-day workshop to rejuvenate our minds, as well as an opportunity to catch up with teachers from across the state.
For members in good standing, this workshop is free; for non-members and members whose dues were paid after the September 1st deadline, there is a nominal fee for the event.
Winter Convention also gives our Members and Jr. Members an opportunity to hold meetings to address pertinent information for future events and other matters. Furthermore, our CDM Scholarship Auditions are held during the Winter Convention weekend, and awards are presented at the conclusion of the event.
Whether you’re looking for choreography ideas or simply a place to take classes from great dancers, Winter Convention is the perfect way to start off your new year.
Carolina Dance Masters is pleased to offer Scholarship auditions for ages 10-12 and ages 13 to 18. This allows Member teacher’s students to have audition opportunities, the ability to win scholarship monies, and get feedback in Audition review classes. Scholarship Auditions are always held during Winter Convention.[/one_half_last]
