Happy New Year!

Just a friendly reminder about our upcoming Winter Workshop in Raleigh,NC on February 11th-12th. Classes for students and teachers, as well as scholarship auditions will be offered. Scholarship auditions are available for Juniors age 10-12 and Seniors age 13 and up. All entries, for the workshop and the scholarship auditions, need to be registered on Dance Comp Genie. Pre-registration price ends on January 17th, 2017.

Mister Dance of America 2017- Sam Faulkner

Sam FaulknerSam Faulkner is 17 years and old and currently in his junior year at the George Washington University Online High School. Sam began dancing at age 9, and trains in all styles of dance; Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Modern, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. He also has an extensive background in Musical Theatre, having performed in over 20 regional productions in Charlotte. Sam’s most notable role to date was starring as Billy in Billy Elliot the musical in two different productions at the Ogunquit Playhouse and North Carolina Theatre, where Sam also received his Equity Card, joining the Stage Actor’s Union. A highlight of Sam’s Billy Elliot experience was meeting and performing for former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara Bush.

Sam previously held the title of Teen Mr. Dance of North Carolina 2013-2014, and is thrilled to have been named the new Mr. Dance of North Carolina 2015-2016, where he also won the Interview, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, and Congeniality awards. When not dancing, Sam enjoys singing, researching Broadway history, and playing with his kitten Pippa.

Sam attends Miller Street Dance Academy. He is a student of Michelle Rogers, Alyson Wright, and Amy Santoro.

Winter Convention and Scholarship Auditions

Winter Convention Schedule UPDATE!
We are very excited to announce that we have updated our Schedule for the 2016 Winter Convention and Scholarship Auditions to better address the needs of our membership!  Please note that both the 10-12 and 13+ scholarship auditions will take place on Saturday Feb. 6 in the morning.  13+ auditions will register from 8:00-8:30am and 10-12 auditions will register from 8:30-9:00am.  Classes for Jr Members, Advanced Students, and 10-12 year old students will take place after scholarship auditions! Cash Awards will still be handed out that day to all who participate in the Scholarship Auditions at an Awards Ceremony! The Member Social will be held in the Governor’s Parlor of the hotel following Saturday’s events. We are extending the deadline to sign up until Jan 20 to allow you time to tell your students!  We hope that you will encourage all of your students to participate in our New and Improved Winter Convention!!! 
Scholarship Auditions are right around the corner!
Scholarship Auditions will be held on February 6th starting at 8:30 a.m. for ages 13 and over and at 9am. for 10-12 years of age. Please remember to pre-register by January 20 in order to secure your spot, however on-site registration will still be accepted space permitting.
To Register on site, please print your this form and bring it to the Scholarship Audition Registration.
In addition, this year we will be offering a Scholarship Audition Class Review for all dancers who participated in Audition classes. Encourage your dancers to audition for the experience and the chance to win scholarship monies!
